Education & Protection

Education & Protection

During war and disputes, children are among the most categories of being exposed to risk resulting from violence, neglect and abuse. Child labor, early marriage and recruitment are widespread, apart from displacement experiences and what bears of losing of places they were accustomed to, and sometimes for their relatives. Children often find themselves facing huge fears.
Our Swa’adna al-souria Organization (SAO) acts to mitigate the effects of the war on children in Syria by contributing to provide educational services for children and young people who have lost their opportunity to pursue education as a result of the destruction of their schools, the frequent displacement, or one or both of their relatives.
Our organization works to contribute to improving the quality of education by building the capacity of educational personnel to provide quality education that guarantees children’s rights in times of crisis and war. It also seeks to involve communities in supporting the educational process to ensure its continuity.

The Education and Protection Program includes the following

• Provision of educational centers for children (8-12 years) who dropped out of school during the war years, where children in our educational centers receive math classes – Arabic, English languages, environmental, and also participate in psycho-social support Programm (I deal, peace education) that helps them express themselves and share their thoughts and feelings with others, in addition to sharing many activities (theatre, learning agriculture).
• An educational center for young people/ teenagers in which they receive teaching courses (mathematics, Arabic, English, philosophy, physics, and chemistry) to enable them obtaining secondary and preparatory education certificates. The Centre also provides literacy classes for parents.
• Providing educational training for education personnel (managers and teachers) in order to contribute to improving the quality of education by raising the awareness of education personnel about children’s rights and how to preserve them at times of war and disputes and involving communities in supporting the educational process.
• Providing discipline on psychosocial support Programs (I deal with, peace education) to whom they work with children to contribute to improving children’s ability to cope with problems arising from war and displacement such as violence, sexual harassment and exploitation, neglect, physical and psychological abuse.
• Providing educational guarantees for children to pursue their education.
