Education Program Projects

1- Children of the Sun Project (2015–2020)

This project aimed to create safe educational spaces for children aged 8–12 who had dropped out of school due to war, displacement, and siege. Its goal was to bridge their educational gap and reintegrate them into formal schools.
The project was established in the Al-Waer neighborhood of Homs city in May 2015 and continued until April 2017, when the neighborhood’s residents were forcibly displaced.
Five educational centers were set up in Al-Waer and transformed into safe spaces for children, offering the following activities:

• Training for educational staff and psychosocial support teams.
• Remedial classes in core subjects (Arabic, mathematics, English, and science).
• Psychosocial support activities to help children improve their ability to understand and cope with their surrounding circumstances.

Between 2015 and 2017, the project reached 800 children and trained 40 teachers.
After displacement, we continued the project by establishing two educational centers, also converted into safe spaces for children, in the towns of Bza’ah (rural Aleppo) and Ariha (rural Idlib). From 2017 to 2020, the project reached 920 children.

2- Knowledge is Light Project (2016–2018)

This project created a safe educational space for children aged 8–12 who had dropped out of school due to war, displacement, and siege, with the aim of filling their educational gap and returning them to formal schools.
The project was established as an educational center equipped with an activity hall in the city of Douma, Rural Damascus Governorate, in January 2016. It continued until forced displacement in February 2018.
The project offered the following activities:

During the project period, it reached 804 children and trained 40 female teachers.

3- Al-Asalah Center Project (2016–2017)

This educational center targeted adolescents aged 13–17 enrolled in formal schools, aiming to strengthen their skills in core subjects to help them pass preparatory and secondary school exams.
The Al-Asalah Educational Center offered remedial courses in mathematics, Arabic, English, physics, chemistry, and philosophy in the town of Babila, Rural Damascus Governorate. During the project period, it reached 458 adolescents.

4- Education for Peace in Syria Project (2021–2026)

This project provides a safe educational space for children aged 8–12 who are out of school or academically delayed. Its goal is to bridge the educational gap, enhance children’s ability to adapt positively to their circumstances, and reintegrate them into formal schools.
The project began in 2021 and is still ongoing in the town of Bza’ah, Al-Bab district, Aleppo Governorate.
The project offers the following activities:

Remedial classes in core subjects (Arabic, English, mathematics, and “My Environment/Science”).
Protection activities: psychosocial support, theater programs, and arts programs (drawing and crafts).
Training for educational staff.
Support classes for children with learning difficulties.
Non-violent parenting training for mothers.
Literacy classes for mothers.

The organization’s team works continuously with families and the local community to ensure integration between the educational roles of home and the center. We also coordinate with formal schools that receive the children to ensure comprehensive follow-up.
To date, the project has reached 1,621 children and 168 mothers.

5- Educational Sponsorships (2017–2025)

The organization has secured educational sponsorships for children in several Syrian regions to ensure they continue their education. Sponsorships have been provided to more than 40 boys and girls until they completed their secondary education.
